Solving a Problem. Making a Difference.

A Louisiana hog tournament that puts veterans back in the field and food on the table for families who need it.

$76M Hog damage to Louisiana agriculture, every year
23 Veterans lost to suicide every day in this country
2 Hogs given to every veteran on the hunt
1 canned good That is the whole cover charge to attend
Why we do this

This tournament was created for three reasons

Every one of them is a real problem in Louisiana, and every one of them gets smaller over one weekend in February.

1

Stand our veterans back up

Help vets — both abled and disabled — connect with the Louisiana outdoors and provide a selfless service again to their communities. As a vet myself, going out and harvesting these nuisance animals to donate to those in need, knowing we are a part of something bigger, is an accomplishment.

23 veterans take their lives a day in this country. We want to show our nation's heroes they are still needed by providing a service to those less fortunate.

2

Push back the feral hog problem

Help decrease the feral hog population. On average feral hogs cause 76 million dollars worth of agricultural damage in Louisiana annually. We seek to allow this competition to go out and help Louisiana with this problem.

Feral hogs are the cause of millions of dollars in damages across Louisiana. This tournament aims to help decrease those numbers across the state.

3

Feed families and food kitchens

Help local food kitchens and families in need. We take the harvested hogs after weighing them, skin them and prepare them to go to food shelters. We also open it up for families to come in and take what they need to help feed their families.

We give each vet two hogs and donate the rest to families in need, reaching non-government funded food kitchens and shelters across the state.

Where it goes

Nothing gets wasted — not the hogs, not the money

Hogs come to the scale fully gutted. They are weighed, skinned and prepared, then sent to food shelters. Families come in and take what they need to feed their households. Every veteran on the hunt goes home with two hogs.

  • Fredrick Hebert VFW Post 4158 — helps veterans access the benefits and programs they need in civilian life.
  • Hero Hunts — introduces and presents the opportunity for U.S. veterans to enjoy fishing and hunting in the great outdoors.
  • Food kitchens and families — non-government funded kitchens and shelters across the state.
